Just before Christmas last year my cousin Emma took her own life at the age of 22, in that same month there were 7 other unrelated young suicides in Coventry.
As a reaction to this and to try and give our family something positive to remember Emma by and raise awareness to a very difficult subject I asked a group of local musicians in Coventry to record a song for Charity in Emma's name.
The song is 1000 Tears by Coventry singer/songwriter Malc Evans, in addition to this track Richie Wermeling from 90s band Let Loose gave a song called God Bless. All the proceeds of this songs will go to Papyrus, a charity which is committed to suicide prevention, focusing predominantly on the emotional well-being of children, teenagers and young adults.
The support and help I have from this project has been fantastic, from Andy McCluskey(OMD) giving his studio fro free on the day of recording, The staff at the studio working for free, all the bands that gave up their time, Mal Holmes at Fin Music for putting Song4emma on to i-tunes, The Merch Foundry in Nuneaton for all the Merchandise, Loft Studios in Liverpool for mastering the song for free, Corky and Steve Nicholls for the website www.song4emma.co.uk and many, many more people.
We are aiming for the single to be out at the end of May and 3 month run of local charity events which will end on 27th August when we hope to present Papyrus with a very big cheque.
If anyone reading this can promote, help or give any advice on getting as many people to support this project I would be very grateful to hear from you; song4emma@live.co.uk
Like most people I know and musicians doing their thing in the music industry, I often ask what is the typical day of an A&R Exec?
I for one hold down a full-time job as a Sales Manager for an furniture manufacturer, then spend any spare time working for the bands I manage, Trailer, Fiori, King Hermit, Haunted By Humans and Waiting For Words! All these bands also hold down day jobs and fit their passion in when they can, Trailer have their next single out in early April and a live pre single launch at 93 feet east in London on March 19th, Fiori are recording the last tracks for their album at Leeders Farm for Long Live Crime Records in LA, King Hermit have a string of live dates and an EP on the way out and Waiting For Words have their next album due out soon also having just done shows in the UK and recording!!!
So it begs the question and would love some feedback?
Also on a sad not I lost my cousin before Christmas at the age of 22, Her name was Emma and she took her own life. Young suicide is on the rise and the issue is a very difficult one to discuss, But as a result I took a group of musicians to Liverpool to record a song written by a local musician called Malc Evans.
The track 1000 tears along with a track called God Bless will be out at the end of March to raise money and awareness for a charity called Papyrus, You can find out more at www.song4emma.co.uk and www.myspace.com/song4emma
Here is a small clip of 1000 Tears;
So good they named it twice! Well its been a while since I posted on on and have to be honest its workload and lack of faith in the page also. The whole idea was great very well thought out and I for one threw myself in to the concept. If its wasn't for James @ Sony/BMG I would have ditched the page a while back and put my focus elsewhere.
So What have Emsar and their acts been up to?
TRAILER
Have just released their first single on Fin Records, ''Set The Country On Fire'' with the brilliant remix of ''Narcosis'' from Dustin Skiles.
Trailer recently played to a packed Zavvi record store in Coventry and have almost sold out of the Ltd Edition CD single, which given that CD sales are on the slide its amazing how a band with no marketing, PR or radio can sell nearly 100 units in a week...
KING HERMIT
This band have been working thier socks of, recording in Liverpool, gigs and doing their on video blogs. A band that truly make sure that no stone is left unturned. Have a look and listen for yourself...
Haunted By Humans
The newest addition to Emsar Management is the band from Coventry, Within 6 months of getting together they have already got some labels ears pricked up and played a packed Fly gig in London a few weeks back. The will be back in London 11th August @ Dublin and Castle

So here Iam back on vox after a short break as not feel it was getting me any where, then I remember the main reason was to tell the world...or those that will listen the amazing talent the Emsar roster has to offer.
First up, why do I do this? well I love music and have been around it, buy it and have been to see it most of my life. ever since I was 18 or so I wanted to work in the music business, from manageing my first band to what I do now has been quite the journey.
My first Music Management training course with John Mostyn( Fine Young Cannibals, The Beat) said on day one ''Why do you want to be a Manager'' why not a label owner, publisher or venue owner. As Managers seem to get a raw deal, if you help a band in the early days and they get signed to a major the first thing they do is sack the guy who got them the deal and sign to a huge Management company, and if they dont the in most cases they sink with out trace as the team behind them has little or no experience of the ''Big Time'' so once again I hear you say WHY?
So many reason and here are a few,
TRAILER www.myspace.com/trailermusic
This band have the foundations to take on some of the biggest names in the dance world, everyone that has had the live experience says the same ''see them on a huge stage where they need 10,000 dance fans having the time of their life'' they have done the pub/club gigs and are now more than ready to step up. here are a few pics from the Covstock festival that IB from Sony/BMG came to.
Other bands are FIORI, Waitng For Words,King Hermit, Ben Arthur and the newcomers to Emsar Haunted By Humans all of which like most people in this business eat, sleep and drink what they do, and I totaly belive each one on its own merit has a place in their respectic markets. So if you have time pass by www.myspace.com/emsarmusic have a listen and give me your thoughts.
As for me? I will never give up having fun and doing what I believe in.
Just incase no one has seen this...
Seems like forever since I last posted but never enough hours in the day, So what have I been doing? well TRAILER are planning their first single release with Fin records which is being mastered in Holland as we speak, this should be June time to tie up with the bands suppoport slot with THE MUSIC @ Covstock www.covstock.co.uk .TRAILER will be supporting Gary Numan on 24th July at The Kasbah in Coventry. They are also haveing top DJ/producer Dustin Skilles in the US remixing a track and word is its amazing.
FIORI have just been in the studio to record 2 tracks for an LA based lable and have just recruited a new drummer as untill now Myke from TRAILER was on sticks. Over the weekend FIORI had 2 gigs, one of which was a heat for G Factor which is a Coventry based competition for bands to play at this years Godiva Festival. Fiori got through to the final on May 25th and will now play at the Godiva Festival on Friday 4th July if they win the final on May 25th they will play on the main stage with headline act The Enemy.
KING HERMIT have had quite a few gigs with a support slot to FOUR DEAD IN OHIO from the Fierce Panda stable, KH are booked in to record up in Liverpool on 28th June.KING HERMIT will also be at this years Covstock supporting THE MUISC.
WAITING FOR WORDS are rehearsing for gigs in Paris and London this year, while also recording new material for an upcoming album.

Emsar Management
March 28th @ Watterats will see 3 acts on the Emsar roster play London;
ROCKERBABY www.myspace.com/rockerbabygirls onstage 7.15pm
RockerBaby are 4 Rocktastic girls currently tipped to be the hottest group this year! Already having radio play with their explosive self-penned quirky rock/pop tunes influenced by the 1980's electro sound & with numerous high profile "LIVE" performances at venues such as the famous "Ministry of sound" (Yes that's right they DON'T mime!) TV appearances includes BBC TV show "Let me Entertain you" which happened to be the very FIRST gig let alone TV show the quartet had EVER sang together on to which they ended up winning! Not a bad start hey?!!!
TRAILER www.myspace.com/trailermusic onstage 8.00pm
"If you're going to do something you've got to do it big", quotes front man Mofo in every interview Trailer do. It has become somewhat of a motto for the band. Trailer are a band who never settle for second best, which has been the key to their coming together and growth as a band. They play their own brand of music labelled ‘Atmospheric Dance Rock Fusion’ and are confident that you won’t have heard anything quite like it before.
FIORI www.myspace.com/fiorirock onstage 10.15pm
Fronted by the double headed vocal beast of towering peroxide Arthur Gatfield and flame haired glamour boy Dave Ryder, Fiori make rock music for people to dance to. Musical influences include Guns N’Roses, Marilyn Manson, MC5 and Elvis while looking like the New York Dolls in Hollywood. But, behind all the eyeliner, hairspray, snake hip posturing and back stage kissing Fiori know what matters; it’s all about the music.
Every now and then a song comes along and stops you in your tracks,
Ben Arthur's - Beautiful Day In LA is just that song.
If there is any A&R watching this now and can tell me it wont be a huge hit? then they are in the wrong job. Ben is unsigned and has been over looked for way to long. This video was made by a fan in Liverpool and makes you see both sides of a lovely city....
